Introducing publishing in Type
I've always found the “writing process" to be an oxymoron.
Processes are mechanical. You want to see a process? Go to a Krispy Kreme. Watch in awe as thousands of glazed donuts roll off an assembly line on-schedule, day-after-day.
Writing isn’t really like this, at least most of the time. I don't even know where the writing process begins. Sometimes, it's when I sit down to write. Sometimes, it's during a conversation that sparks an idea. Other times, I’ll find a big idea only after I’ve written.
This is what makes building Type insanely hard and fun. We're building a product to speed up every part of the writing process – but it's a process that lies just beyond our comprehension.
We’re building a product we think will make it more likely that something good happens when you sit down to write, fully knowing it’s not something we can guarantee.
To that end, we’re announcing two new features today we think will enhance the writing experience in Type.
Both features make it easier to share your ideas with collaborators or the world, which we’ve learned is a key part of any writing process:
Blog posts: You can now create and host your own custom blog on Type and publish any document as a blog post. You’re reading this on a Type blog right now. And here’s a demo profile for more inspiration. You can set up your blog in your Type account now.
View-only links: You can now generate and share a view-only link for any of your Type documents. We think this will be especially helpful for sharing your ideas with the people you work with most closely — friends, collaborators, and clients.
We hope both new features help you get your ideas out into the world, so your writing gains a life and momentum of its own.
